It
was exactly three years today, a day that will not be forgotten by anyone
around the world. Everyone was touched by the terrorist attacks that took
place on the World Trade Centre, and news soon came out that the community
of the Brighton fans was not to be without its tragedies. Robert Eaton, a
lifelong fan of the club, lost his life.
Today's
game is going to be more than just a game, it will be a time to remember
Robert and all the work carried out by the charity, REMF, that was set up
- as well as everyone who also lost their lives. The flag, which will be
passed around at the game today will be an emotional time for all the
fans.
Since
the charity was set up, they have raised over £35,000, which has been
used to fund 'Los Peladitos' in New York, as well as provide them with a
new kit this year. The charity has also started to work with local children's
football clubs clubs, and currently support three in the Sussex
area.
In
the future, they hope to support around 20 clubs in the next five years,
which would then enable them to hold a competition with the teams
competing for a trophy.
You
can find out more information about the charity on their website at
http://www.remf.net.
Donations are also welcome. Enjoy the game, and take a moment to
remember those who are not so lucky to be here today...
