McGhee
was not too pleased after the Reading game, saying we
lacked 'Cutting Edge' and has warned the team they must
improve if they are to see three points this weekend.
"In comparison with the Derby game, it was a poor
performance. We were excellent at Derby" said McGhee.
Like Reading, Crewe are another team that
took six points from us last season - thats twelve
between themselves and The Royals, twelve we cannot
afford to simply give away if we are going to survive,
or end the season without having to worry until the
final whistle on the last day of the season.
Despite that, its only just the start of
the new season and there is lots more fun to be had...
It has recently been announced that the
club have also signed two new players - Sebastian Carole
and Florent Chaigneau. Winger Carole has signed on a
undisclosed fee from French giants Monaco, while the
French keeper Chaigneau has signed a years loan deal. If
the club like what they see, there is an option to buy
the player at the end of the season. McPhee however who
impressed during the pre-season, has been put on loan to
Aldershot Town.
However, despite new players at the club,
McGhee is expected to field a similar team to that of
Reading. The only change that may appear immediately is
if Federico Turienzo makes the starting line-up after
his impressive display against Reading, however McGhee
is wary of starting him without being 100% match fit.
Crewe have made an impressive start to
the season, picking up four points from a possible six.
They beat Burnley on the opening day of the season, and
managed a draw with Norwich. Despite this, the Crewe
manager Dario Gradi said after the game "I'll settle for
a point as I thought we were out-played for most of the
second half, but we still looked dangerous at times."
Players to watch out for include Steve
Jones and David Vaughan who both scored in the final
minute of each half at Burnley. Jon Colclough, a Crewe
fan says "The defence is shaky, the midfield is good
except for the Dario-favourite captain and no one knows
about the strikers seeing as we've signed half of those
available on the market."
The Withdean was completely sold out on
Tuesday, despite earlier reports that there were still a
'large quantity' on sale. Another busy day is expected
this weekend, so expect over 6,500 fans to attend.
Flying High Predicion:
McGhee has said to the team that they
must improve, and I believe they will all be trying
their best this weekend to bring home a win - the first
since February!
