David
Healy must have had a bit of reverse déjà vu on
Saturday. The team full of expensive signings who were
supposed to easily beat a team of journeymen
professionals were struggling to make any sort of impact
and were behind, in this case by 2-0. Unfortunately, he
went and ruined it all by scoring two goals to equalise
and then it finished 3-3 in the end, but what a great
game it was.

The team
was unchanged from the win over Plymouth and came out
full of confidence. Unfortunately, so did Leeds and for
the first ten minutes they were all over us and could
have scored a couple, but we kept them out and then got
our passing game going and got back into the game. Dan
Harding was roundly booed every time he got the ball and
seemed very apprehensive about coming into the corner of
the pitch, above where 1,000 or so Albion fans were
massed. Sebastian Carole gave him a difficult time and
our first goal came from an attack down that side. The
cross came over to Leon who slid in and put it away. We
had settled down very well and were playing some
excellent stuff. Most of our attacking play was down the
right (were we targeting Harding as a weak link?) and
subsequently Albert Jarrett had little chance to do much
but the midfield was strong, the defence resolute and
Jake and Leon up front were causing problems for Leeds
lumbering central defenders.

When
Leeds did get through Henderson pulled off some great
saves and we didn't look at all out of place. We went in
at half time with that 1-0 lead and hopes of hanging on
for the win. Dean Hammond had even hit the bar just
before half time with a header so we could have been
ahead by more. Little did we know what was to come.

More of
the same was the answer at the start of the second half.
Carole got through on a break out of defence and from
Harding's side of the box rifled the goal into the net,
similar to Healy's goal against England the other night!
Two nil and the Albion fans were delirious. We weren't
expecting this, but perhaps we should with the football
we were playing.

Leeds
were rattled and brought on two subs who were to change
the game. They pushed us back and started to look
dangerous. Healy scored one and we were panicking a
little. Then he got a second and we were deflated but
kept trying to play our passing game. Another smooth
break out of defence brought our third. A cross from
Leon was deflected into our net by Sean Greg an and we
thought that we'd won the game. Leeds swarmed forward
again and we got into injury time without conceding.
Three added minutes were nearly over but Healy got free
again, Henderson saved but couldn't hold on to the ball
and the rebound was despatched for a 3-3 draw. Leeds
reacted as though they'd won the league, not just a
point!

After the
game, their local phone in was all about how they should
have won against a team like Brighton and no-one gave us
any sort of credit. If we can continue to improve and
play this passing game we shouldn't have any problem
achieving mid table mediocrity for a change this season.
