2002:
Soccer Site Is A Hit For
David
A FOOTBALL website designed and run by a
Gloucester school boy is zooming up the internet leagues.
David Snowball's site is devoted to
Brighton and Hove Albion FC and, despite only starting last August, is climbing
up the charts in the Soccer Hit List - a chart of the most popular football
websites on the internet.
Fourteen-year-old
David, who originally came from Sussex, moved to Quedgeley two years ago.
But the distance has done little to
diminish his love of Brighton - "the Seagulls".
David, a pupil at Severn Vale School,
said: "I update the website regularly and I always do a special section on
the site after each game called Sunday News, which is always very popular.
"Since it started in August 2001, I
have had more than 2,880 hits and I am in the top 120 sites of the Soccer Hit
List.
"Every week I publicise it on
various message boards for home and away fans with a game called Guess the
Player where I take a picture of an ex-player for the club then change the
picture in a computer programme called Paint Shop Pro.
"I then post the answer on the
message board a couple of days later."
The website, alongside the Sunday News
section, also features pictures of every home kit from the last century, a
fixture list for this season with the latest results, and a message board for
fans to chat on.
There are also links to other Brighton
and general football websites, games and a section devoted to travel advice for
fans.
The current design celebrates the
centenary year of the club which was originally formed in 1901, although it is
set to be re-launched in August 2002 in time to coincide with the beginning of
next season.
