| The
team gained a much needed confidence boost on Monday night, just
five days before the start of the new season. However, it was mostly
down to the reserves that the Albion came out at the end with an
excellent 5-0 score line.
Monday's game was a chance for
Brighton's younger less experienced players to gain a place in the
squad ahead of Saturday's game at Pride Park.
However, those with experience were
not forgotten in the final pre-season friendly. El-Abd, Robinson,
McCammon and McPhee all got a starting XI place.
Jake Robinson, voted the 'Worlds
Sexiest Footballer' at the weekend, scored the only two goals of the
first half, taking the team to a 2-0 lead. The second half however
was to see even more goals - Jarrett scored the third and fourth,
and Robinson ended the night getting a hat trick with a shot from
outside the box.
Hastings were never going to be
overpowering, however the youth team players showed some good skills
and enthusiasm that will see them progress well, and maybe gain a
place in the first team.
Meanwhile, Fish did not take part in
Monday's game after training with Ipswich ready for their friendly
against Colchester! He did not participate in any Brighton
friendlies because he was apparently injured. He is now linked with
a move to Joe Royle's side! There has also been no further news on
Blayney from Southampton, however fans are hoping the deal is not in
doubt.
