Two
signings in two days, and it doesn't look like we're finished yet! As the
first team head back to base to prepare for the new season, McGhee and
Knight were busy signing a new player for the club, courtesy of the Coca
Cola prize money.
Colin
Kazim-Richards takes the squad number 22, which used to belong to Hammond.
Despite interests from a number of other Championship clubs, and even some
Premiership clubs such as Wigan and Leicester, Colin told the official
site that it was an easy decision to choose Brighton after meeting McGhee
and Knight for the first time.
18-year-old Kazim turned down a new two year
deal with Bury, where he made his debut in last seasons LDV vans trophy
tie against their local rivals Stockport County. Colin has now signed a
new three year deal with The Albion, who he believes could get 20,000 fans
each week!
Confident Kazim believes he will make an
immediate impact at the club, and begin the season in the starting XI.
Training at the club begins today, and Colin's target is to prove he is
worthy of the position he wants. He says "I've got
quite few strengths. If I'm in front of goal, I'll score. If someone's in
front of me, I'll go past them."
The winner of the £250,000 prize for the club,
Aaron Berry was there to meet Kazim yesterday. He said is he was McGhee,
he would have also bought Colin.
However, that doesn't now mean its all over!
It seems that
Brighton assistant manager Bob Booker has revealed that the club are still
hunting an experienced striker. Despite the arrival of Kazim, Booker said
"We're probably still
looking for three or four players in different positions but it's not
easy, every team is out there trying to sign players."
Watch out for more signings from the club in the coming
weeks as we head towards the new season!
