An impressive
1550 fans turns out last night to watch the team in their first local
friendly. The team previously played Le Havre at the weekend, losing 2-0.
Despite the lack of goals that day, they have made up for it winning
against Worthing United 4-3.
Jason Dodd also made an appearance at the game in the first
half, after missing the game against Le Havre.
Even better news is that the Coke Cola Kid, Colin
Kazim-Richards scored the opening goal in the 39th minute with a shot into
the top of the net. Leon Knight set the ball up with a cross from the left
to give Kazim the perfect opportunity to set the game on fire!
A completely new side went on in the second half, with the
exception of Sam Rents, a thrid year scholar. In less than 10 minutes, the
score was already 3-0 to the Albion...
Dean Cox got the final Albion goal in the 66th minute,
however the game was just getting started for Worthing. Only a minute
later, when the team thought they were safe with a 4-0 lead, Worthing's
Sam Francis headed the ball into the net from close range. A spectacular
volley from 25 yards took Worthing 2-0 up, before Pacquette got another
close range shot into the net.
Despite Worthing growing stronger as the game went on,
McGhee said "It was the perfect preseason game for where we're at."
The next game is away against At. Albans on Friday night.
