The
team yesterday had a disappointing loss, in their first game against a
Coca Cola League side. League One side Colchester beat the Albion 5-2 at
Layer Road, but only by scoring four goals in the final 30 minutes!
The game didn't start too well, with Brighton
going 1-0 down. Ex-Brighton player Iwelumo got Colchester a penalty after
just three minutes!
However, it soon picked up with Knight and
Kazim-Richards heading in goals either side of half time.
Albion looked strong with a number of quality
balls in the first half, however as we have seen a number of times last
season, the second half is a different story!
The players started moving out of position,
and we were not defensive enough. McGhee even overturned ideas that it was
'preseason fatigue' and was determined that the players were fit and ready
to play 90 minutes.
The players believed the game was going to be
easier than it was, and this McGhee disappointed on the final whistle.
There is now less than two weeks to go until the start of the new season,
and with just two more friendly games to go (Oxford and Bournemouth) there
is still plenty to work on...
