Flying High Report: (Cardiff 2 - 0 Brighton)

On Thursday, McGhee said on the official site that the team will be hard for Cardiff to beat in this weekends game at Ninian Park, and that his main priority was to come out unbeaten. There was even talk of going on for a win...

This however wasn't to be - The first half for the Bluebirds was their best performance in the game, gaining the only two goals of the game. Mayo fouled Richard Langley in the area and gave away a penalty, while defender Collins scored the second just minutes later.

While Cardiff were unable to repeat their first half performance, Brighton could not get to grips, and caused little trouble for the Bluebirds, and their goalkeeper especially!

The loss means we stay in 18th place, despite Cardiff gaining all three points, they stay below us.

"I said at half-time that the priority now was to keep a clean sheet and although I certainly would have liked a third goal, I am more than happy with the result.

"In fairness to Brighton they changed tactics and threw bodies forward in the second half, but considering all our international calls this week the players responded magnificently.

"We shouldn't be below Brighton in the table and at the end of the season I am sure we won't be, but they have still done tremendously well on very little resources."

  Managers Comments: (Brighton)

"The penalty was a fair decision as our player did lean on him a bit after getting caught on the wrong side and the game itself was finished when they went 2-0 up.

"The shape we started with didn't cope with Cardiff's width and I was about to change things around when that second goal went in.

"We still have a lot of work to do in order to stay in this division, but I'm sure we have four wins in us and that is all I reckon we need."
