REPORT: NOTT FOREST 0 - 1 BRIGHTON
We
have this report from the game:
A
warm evening in Nottingham, and an unexpected formation with Guy Butters still
out injured and Charlie Oatway playing at right back.

Forest
Started well no doubt with memories of their win over West Ham on Sunday, but
the Albion took over after around 15 or 20 minutes and always looked likely to
score. The midfield were controlling the play, defence was rock solid, Virgo and
Knight were holding the ball well up front.
After
two quick corners in succession, the second one was taken by Darren Currie and
Virgo rose unchallenged at the far post to score with a downward header. Danny
Cullip could also have scored with an equally simple header soon after, but
unfortunately it wasn't to be. Other chances came and went, but we finished the
first half looking very strong apart from a nagging doubt about Charlie Oatway
playing at right back and being booked in the first half.

Forest
made two subs at half time and came out very eager to make up for their first
half performance. They played better football at a fast pace, and we couldn't
hold on to the ball to relieve the pressure. Charlie was doing his best, but
still looked uncomfortable and was substituted after and hour or so. Virgo moved
back in to defence, McPhee came back up front and we carried on defending
heroically.
Two
or Three times they did get through, but Kuipers made great stops and kept them
out. It was backs to the wall, we didn't create much going forward apart from a
couple of long range shots.

By
the final whistle, most of the Forest fans realized they weren't going to pull
off a last minute win as on Sunday, and had gone home! The 500 or so traveling
Albion fans greeted the win with rapturous applause.
Stewards
were very fussy about everyone sitting down, but we should have known after our
visit two seasons ago. Everyone had a good laugh in the first half when they had
just got almost everyone to sit down before the sounds of 'Stand up if you want
Falmer' emerged and everyone was once again standing! Forest fans were as quiet
as ever, only getting excited and singing for two minutes in the second
half.

Good
three points for the Albion showing good discipline, tight defence and good
organisation.
