Report: (Brighton 0 - 1 Reading) |
Reading,
just a couple of points off the playoffs were tonight looking for a win.
They have only won one game since Boxing Day, and if they didn't take the
points in tonight's game they would run the risk of slipping down the
table, especially after losing to bottom of the league Rotherham in their
last game!
In
the end reading got a lucky break after a missed header from Forster hit
his arm and bounced towards the goal. Shaaban hit the ball back out,
however this hit Forster on the chest and bounced back into the goal with
Shaaban unaware.
We
didn't have many chances, however those we did have we needed to take and
make more of, but we didn't.
Four
defeats in a row is a bad habit to be in at the moment. Everyone was
thinking positive that we only need to win another two games, however its
not that easy as we have seen tonight. Knight looked like he would score a
couple of times during the game, however nothing came from it. In reality
it is difficult to get this.
Mayo
made a number of mistakes during the game, many times giving the ball away
or letting Reading get through to penetrate the Brighton goal. He was
replaced in the 56th minute by Nathan Jones after an injury on his knee,
however Jones hardly touched the ball.
Before
this point, Hinshelwood went off after hopping off the pitch. He picked up
an injury also on his knee, and was replaced by Hammond after just 24
minutes.
McCammon
was stretchered off at half time. McGhee has said that after his earlier
illnesses including a cold he is still feeling slightly under the weather.
The
last chance of the game was a free kick after a foul on Gary Hart. Knight
took the shot, however it just missed the goal on the left, and hit the
net.
Despite
the loss, another one to add to the list, McGhee continued to feel
confident that we would start to get goals and stay up. More information
about the injuries will probably be released by the club shortly.
