WEBMASTERS
REPORT: BRIGHTON 1-0 ROTHERHAM
We
have this report from the game:
It
is about time we got another win, and today everyone's confidence was high to
take three points, despite Rotherham's earlier unexpected win against Leeds on
Monday night.
It
took until the 82nd minute of the game to get a goal, however the team were definitely
on top throughout. Leon Knight also played well, after being taken off last
week, and almost got a goal. Claridge was also spot on, and worked hard to keep
his place in the game. McGhee could have a difficult decision next week when
Virgo returns, however he needs to make a decision that will help us move away
from the lucky one-nil wins, and be able to confidently score against other
teams in the division.
McGhee
was delighted however that we got the win, and now says that we only need
another nine wins to stay in this division. We are now five points clear of the
relegation zone.
Rotherham
did have a chance to even the scoreline in the closing stages of the game,
however came away with nothing. They stay bottom of the league with only 11
points from 22 games!
Managers
Reactions (Brighton):
"It was an important three points. We were
desperate for any win for the fans who braved the conditions at this monster of
a stadium.
"Rotherham complimented us by matching us
up. They made it difficult for us by working hard. But we kept probing and
eventually got the breakthrough.
"At this stage I'm not interested in the
third-to-bottom club, but it's important to get the win to maintain the gap
between."
Managers
Reactions (Rotherham):
"What did for us was switching off from
set-plays. The free-kick from which Brighton scored should not have been
awarded, but we still had time to defend it.
"Unfortunately we didn't make the right
decisions in the right areas and that's why we are bottom of the table. We were
guilty of schoolboy defending.
"Both sides seemed to cancel each other
out and, for me, it was a certain 0-0.
"I couldn't see Brighton scoring, and as
it turned out dozing off from a set-play proved our undoing."
