FANS
VIEW: BRIGHTON 3 - 0 TRANMERE
We
have this special fans report from the game:
What a difference 8
days makes! Tranmere were soundly beaten by a
clinical performance
and the only shame of it was that we didn't add
to our first half
three. Leon Knight responded to last week's public
criticism with some
quality play that was topped off by
a sublime lengthy lob from wide on the left.
Not many players at this level would have attempted it. He
nearly got a 2nd as well when he stretched to meet a Jones cross and the ball came back off a post. Jones
played ever so well and could count himself unlucky to be booked
for allegedly diving
for a penalty. With Albion 3-0 up, he was taken down in
the area.
why would the ref think he felt the need to dive? The guy just got
it so
wrong.
Trevor Benjamin
worked hard all night and didn't get anywhere near the
protection he should
have had from the ref. However, with Micky Adams
watching from the
stand, many were putting two and two
together with the events in Spain and assuming it would be Benjamin's
last game before being recalled to fill the striking void at
Leicester. Obviously the faithful, now having seen a decent goal return
from the burly striker, hope he
stays for another month.
There were good
performances throughout the side and, although I
disagreed with Dan
Harding getting man-of-the-match, his display was
once again a serious
cause for Kerry Mayo to be concerned. McGhee had
the luxury of being
able to give El-Abd a valuable half hour to keep
him in contention
and John Piercy had a 10-minute run-out. Tranmere
became increasingly
niggled by Brighton's easy grip on the game and it
was surprising they finished with all 11 on the pitch. Sunday's goalkeeping
hero had a nightmare!
