Club Facts

Burnley
formed in 1882, over 120 years ago! They are known today as 'The Clarets'. Their
record attendance was recorded way back in 1924 when they played Huddersfield
Town in the sixth round of the FA Cup. It was 54,775.
They
have been division one champions only twice, and runners up only twice. They
also won the FA Cup, however this was in 1913/14 season!
Away fans are housed in the covered David
Fishwick Stand (formerly the Cricket Field Stand, named because there is a
cricket field behind it) at one end of the ground. It accommodates 4,125
supporters.
Food & Drink
[Top]
When
visiting Burnley, you may have to catch a quick pint in town as the pubs around
the ground mainly admit only home fans. You could try for example going to
'The Park View' which is opposite the club shop.
You may get in if your not wearing your colours?
Despite
the lack of pubs open to away fans, the local restaurants will always be open to
serve up some grub! If you are near the pub above, try visiting the 'Park View
Chip Shop'. They serve a whole host of good food - including fish and chips! If
you would rather have a sandwich however, the shop across the road is ideal.
Other
well known restaurants such as McDonalds and KFC can be found in the town,
otherwise go for the in-house specials from within the ground...

Car Directions

Burnley
will be one of the furthest places you travel to see Brighton play this season,
so make sure you leave early and plan a number of stops along the way. You could
even make a weekend of it, and go up on Friday and come back on Sunday, staying
in the town centre just a short walk from the ground.
The
easiest way to travel is along the M6 from the South up to junction 29 where you
will then need to join the M65. Exit at junction 10 and follow signs to 'Towneley
Hall'. This will soon take you past the ground, so watch out!
Train Information
[Top]
If
you are travelling by Train, please note that there are two train stations -
Burnley Central and Burnley Manchester Road. Central is furthest away (about 20
minutes) and is mainly served by local trains. Manchester Road however is around
15 minutes walk and is served by the main services.
Please expect your journey to take around 6 hours going
through London. This service is provided by Thameslink, Virgin and
Northern Rail.
For more information on train times, visit your local train station...

Parking
[Top]
As
when visiting all clubs grounds, many have restrictions set up to stop fans
parking in residential areas - Burnley is no different. Despite this, there are
a number of places you can park, and the town is not a million miles away if you
feel like a short walk.
'The
Park View' pub as mentioned above offers parking at around £2, however it does
fill up quick, and it can take a while to exit when trying to leave the ground.
If you want a quick get away, try somewhere else!
