Club Facts                                                                                [Top]

Ipswich formed in 1878, however they did not turn professional until 1936, almost 60 years later! Their current manager is Joe Royal, who was formerly in charge of Manchester City.

Ipswich were division one winners back in 1961/62, and the closest they have come since then is runners up is both 1981/82 and 1982/83. Their highest attendance stands at 38,010 when they played Leeds in the sixth round of the FA Cup in 1975. Their ground capacity now stands at 30,350.

Food & Drink                                                                            [Top]

Food and drink is available within the ground, as well as the portable catering facilities offered by individuals around the ground.

Car Directions                                                                          [Top]

You can reach Ipswich through the A12. At the Tesco roundabout take the second exit into London Road where you should follow the 'Ipswich A1214' signs for about 2 miles. At the bottom of the hill, go straight on and then turn right when you reach the traffic lights.

Train Information                                                                     [Top]

Ipswich station is served by trains mainly from Great Eastern and Anglia. To get to the ground, simply exit the station walking straight over the bridge into the town centre. When you see a staples store, turn left past this into Portman Road where you should see the ground.

Get a train to Farringdon from Brighton, use the tube to get to London Liverpool Street, and then head off to Ipswich. The journey should take no longer than 3 hours.

Bus, Tram & Underground Information                                  [Top]

There are two park and ride schemes that operate in this area. You can find these at either Bury Road, or the junction from the A12.

Parking                                                                                    [Top]

If you follow the instructions above, you should find parking about half a mile further up this road. Otherwise you will have to find an alternate spot near the ground, however there are many car parks offering spaces for around £4 each.
