Here is one I didn't think I would be
doing! Leeds formed in 1919, after playing as Leeds City since 1904.
Today they play at Elland road in a all white kit with blue and gold
trim. After a long period in the premiership (since 1992 when they
were champions), they have joined the Championship League! The last
time they were in this division, they only stayed two years before
going up to play with the big boys...
The capacity at the ground is 40,208
however don't expect it to be full of Brighton fans on a Tuesday
night! Despite that, it is quite easy to get to by car traveling
straight up the M1, or around four hours on the train. If your really
desperate you could fly?
Food & Drink
[Top]
The atmosphere will not be the same on a
dark winters night, so expect some pubs and takeaways not to offer the
same services as they do at the weekends.
'The Britannia' is about 5 minutes walk
from the stadium, and welcomes away fans. 'The Bulls Head' is also a
popular pub to visit, and apparently offers free parking to fans going
to the match (have to get there quick!). 'The Whistletop' is on the
hill overlooking the stadium and offers a good location for away fans
to park up, have a pint and walk to the ground.
Other pubs closer to the ground include
'Old Peacock' however these get very very busy, and mainly are used by
home fans.
Leeds has it very own Burger Kind and KFC
situated around the ground, as well as fish and chip shops opposite
the ground, as well as top foreign foods. If your planning to stay
over, there is a good curry house in the city centre called
'Shalimar'.

Car Directions

This game is scheduled for a Tuesday
night, and is a long drive. If you are determined to go, plan your
journey carefully and make sure you leave time for a break every
couple of hours. You could even arrange to stay over and come back the
next day?
Depending on your route, the ground is
near the M1/M62 and M621. The M1 is recommended if you are coming from
the South.
Go past junction 41 towards the city
centre, joining the new M621 link road which will take you towards the
ground. There are a number of exits you can take all which provide
access to the stadium with parking.
Train Information

Traveling by train to Leeds is quite quite
despite the long distance. You can get to Leeds quicker than you could
to Cardiff! Expect the ticket to be upwards of £64. Most of these
services change at London.
When you get to Leeds however, the nearest
station is in the town centre almost 2 miles away from the ground
despite the track running almost alongside the ground!
Bus, Tram & Underground
Information

You can fly to 'Leeds Bradford Airport'
from the South. National Express also provide a regular service from
Brighton to Leeds bus station, however it takes around 8 hours. Many
change at London.
Parking
[Top]
There is lots of parking for fans
traveling to the game, and it is probably best to get near to the
ground on a night game so you can get in and head straight home.
Fans Information

The atmosphere is usually great in the
stadium and as Elland Road holds a staggering 40,000 fans, it can be
very daunting for the visiting team. Outside of the groud is a
recently built Mc.Donald's, and a pub and fish and chip shop just
across the road. If you fancy something different however, you could
always get something from the city centre, where there are plenty of
restaurants and bars.
If you are travelling by car, I would
advise you not to use the car park
just outside of the stadium, as it can take ages to get out after
games. As we are playing each other on a tuesday, it is likely that
there will be fewer fans than on a weekend. However, there should
still be a good turnout, I would think around 25,000 fans.
I am optimistic about the coming season,
although I am still unsure of the
squad we will have. Maybe we will be able to gain a place in the
playoffs, but if not, then I am willing to wait a few seasons before
hopefully returning to the Premiership. I cannot see us getting
anywhere near the automatic promotion positions in our first season.
The players you should look out for who
are probably not leaving before the
start of the season are James Milner, Simon Johnson and Julian
Joachim. They all have electric pace and are very attack minded
players. I believe the score will be 1-1 when the clubs meet in
october, but I think that when Leeds become used to the aspects of the
first division, they will win 2-0, second time round.
At the close of the season I think that
Leeds will finish sixth (hopefully),
although any position in the top half would be acceptable. It all
depends on the ins and outs in the transfer market.
