Club Facts
[Top]
As with most of our away games this
season, the ones furthest away are usual during the week! This is no
exception - one of the furthest away, and its during the week.
Like Plymouths ground, three sides of
Prestons ground have now been redeveloped with all seated stands. The
final stands both terracing and seating. The current capacity of the
ground is 22,225, but the club hopes to extend this to around 30,000
with the final stand. Away fans are located in one of the new stands,
(Bill Shankly Stand), with an allocation of 3,000 seats which can be
extended to 6,000 if required. I don't expect that many to be coming
for this game on a weeknight?
Most people, including the stewards and
police are friendly, and there is a good atmosphere.
Food & Drink
[Top]
Food and alcohol is available before and
throughout the game within the ground, serving up a range of rolls,
burgers and hot dogs available. This is probably your best bet,
otherwise you have to walk towards the town centre to get anything
worth having!
Otherwise you could try the local burger
vans or try grabbing a bite to eat in one of the local pubs.
Tom Finney Way includes pubs such as The
Sumners, or The Garrison which are both good for away fans. If you
fancy walking a little further, the Toy Soldier is located in the
Deepdale Retail Park, just off Blackpool Road.

Car Directions
[Top]
You will need to follow the M6, leaving at
Junction 31 following the signs for Preston. You will now be going up
a big hill, where you should turn right when you get to the
roundabout. Continue on over three sets of traffic lights, where you
will see the ground on your left. Make sure you stick to the speed
limit as these roads are regular speed traps set up by the police.
Train Information
[Top]
The ground is nowhere near the ground, and
your best bet is to get a taxi to the ground, and probably one back as
well. Maybe arrange for a taxi to come and pick you up after the game,
meeting somewhere other than the ground so no one else jumps in before
you get to it!
If you do want to walk it however, there
are a number of pubs and places to get something to eat, however time
will be limited on the way back to the station to catch any train
going back towards Brighton.
